Carla Birnberg, aka MizFit, is an award-winning writer, personal trainer and former bodybuilding competitor. A blogger since 2001, she launched MizFitOnline in 2007 to share her health and fitness knowledge with those who might not have access to one-on-one training. Danielle Omar, RD

Danielle is a Washington, D.C. based Registered Dietitian who specializes in nutrition, food and health communications. She has over 10 years of experience as a trusted and reliable nutrition expert and has been quoted in local and national media outlets such as The Washington Post, The New York Times, and The Food Network. Danielle is passionate about connecting through social media and has consulted with public relations firms and food companies on spokesperson campaigns and web 2.0 engagement strategies. She also consults with health professionals and small businesses on their social media marketing strategy. In her private nutrition practice, Danielle has successfully motivated hundreds of busy professionals to eat smarter through her work as a speaker, adjunct professor, blogger, counselor and nutrition consultant. Duffy MacKay, ND

Dr. Duffy MacKay is a licensed Naturopathic Doctor, who works for the Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN) as the Vice President of Scientific and Regulatory Affairs. Formerly co-owner and practitioner in a family-owned New Hampshire complementary and alternative medicine private practice, he currently resides in the Washington, D.C. area, seeing patients part-time in a retail pharmacy setting. In addition to his hands-on experience as a practitioner in the field of integrative medicine and his work with CRN, he previously spent eight years working as a medical consultant for two companies in the dietary supplement industry, where he served as an advisor on clinical research. Dr. MacKay has published articles in peer-reviewed journals, and serves on the Editorial Board of two peer-reviewed publications: the clinical journal Alternative Medicine Review and the official publication of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians, Natural Medicine Journal. Dr. MacKay earned his B.S. in Marine Sciences from the University of California, Santa Cruz and his ND from the National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, Oregon. Dr. MacKay also writes a “Savvy Blog” for naturallysavvy.com. Professionally and personally, he approaches the path to good health as a journey, taking small steps forward, and not letting detours get in the way of the ultimate goal.



Leslie Bonci, MPH, RD, CSSD, LDN

Leslie Bonci is a Registered Dietitian and board certified specialist in sports dietetics and a Pennsylvania licensed dietitian/nutritionist. Leslie is currently the director of sports medicine nutrition for the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and the Center for Sports Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC). She serves as the sports dietitian for the University of Pittsburgh’s department of athletics, and is nutrition consultant for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pittsburgh Penguins, Pittsburgh Pirates, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, Toronto Blue Jays and the Washington Nationals. In addition to being a regular blogger on Runners World, she serves on the editorial advisory board of Fitness magazine, and has her own weekly segment, “The Winning Plate” on Pittsburgh’s KDKA-TV’s Pittsburgh Today Live and writes a weekly blog for Runners World. Leslie was a national media spokesperson for the American Dietetic Association.



Liz Scherer

Liz Scherer is a health journalist, digital copywriter, social media strategist, consultant, blogger and women’s health advocate. With almost three decades experience in the healthcare arena, Liz has worked in the private and public sectors on behalf of web-based and traditional science publishers, public relations and advertising agencies, pharmaceutical companies and non-profits. Her work has appeared on- and offline in websites, wire services, videos, women’s magazines, peer-reviewed journals and in conference proceedings. Liz’s blog, Flashfree, is geared towards providing evidence-based, alternative and integrative strategies to manage the medical, emotional, social and physical challenges of menopause and midlife. Sheryl Kraft

Sheryl Kraft is a freelance journalist, essayist and blogger based in Fairfield County, Connecticut. Her writing covers all areas, with a concentration in women's health, wellness and fitness. With the exception of quantum physics, just about everything interests her; in fact, one of the greatest things Sheryl finds about writing is the opportunity it gives her to delve into subjects and discover something new. For more than four years, Tina has shared her life through journaling her daily meals on her blog, Carrots ‘N’ Cake. Each day, she strives to find the right balance without losing out on fun or good taste. Tina also writes a weekly feature for Health.com and blogs for a nutritional rating company called NuVal. Her first book, Carrots ‘N’ Cake: Healthy Living One Cupcake at a Time, was published in May 2011.
