Methodology

Physicians:  The "Physicians" population included 900 physicians, including 300 primary care physicians, 301 OB/GYNs, 299 other physician specialists. The survey was conducted online, October 3-11, 2007 by Ipsos-Public Affairs. Margins of sampling error at a 95 percent confidence level are +/- 5.7 percentage points.

Primary Care Physicians: The "Primary Care Physicians" population included 300 primary care physicians. The survey was conducted online, October 3-11, 2007 by Ipsos-Public Affairs. Margins of sampling error at a 95 percent confidence level are +/- 5.7 percentage points.

Nurses:  The "Nurses" population included 277 registered nurses and nurse practitioners.  The survey was conducted online, October 3-11, 2007 by Ipsos-Public Affairs. Margins of sampling error at a 95 percent confidence level are +/- 5.9 percentage points.

OB/GYNs:  The "OB/GYN" population included 301 OB/GYNs.   The survey was conducted online, October 3-11, 2007 by Ipsos-Public Affairs. Margins of sampling error at a 95 percent confidence level are +/- 5.6 percentage points.

Dermatologists:  The "Dermatologists" population included 300 dermatologists.  The survey was conducted online, August 28 - September 12, 2020 by Ipsos-Public Affairs. Margins of sampling error at a 95 percent confidence level are +/- 5.7 percentage points.

Cardiologists: The "Cardiologists" population included 300 cardiologists.  The survey was conducted online, August 28 - September 12, 2020 by Ipsos-Public Affairs. Margins of sampling error at a 95 percent confidence level are +/- 5.7 percentage points.

Orthopaedic Specialists:  The "Orthopaedic Specialists" population included 300 orthopaedic specialists.  The survey was conducted online, August 28 - September 12, 2020 by Ipsos-Public Affairs. Margins of sampling error at a 95 percent confidence level are +/- 5.7 percentage points.

Registered Dietitians: The "Registered Dietitian" populations included 300 registered dietitians. The survey was conducted online by Ipsos-Public Affairs, October 3-11, 2009 and the study went public in December 2009. Seventy-four percent of RDs taking the study identified themselves as members of the American Dietetic Association, the world's largest organization of food and nutrition professionals. Margins of sampling error at a 95 percent confidence level are +/- 5.7 percentage points.

Nurse Practitioners: The "Nurse Practitioner" population included 300 nurse practitioners. The survey was conducted online by Ipsos-Public Affairs, October 3-11, 2009 and went public in December 2009. Margins of sampling error at a 95 percent confidence level are +/- 5.7 percentage points.

Pharmacists: The "Pharmacist" populations included 300 pharmacists. The survey was conducted online by Ipsos-Public Affairs, October 3-11, 2009 and the study went public in December 2009. Margins of sampling error at a 95 percent confidence level are +/- 5.7 percentage points.

A nominal honorarium was given to each healthcare professional completing the survey in 2007, 2008 and 2009.
