WASHINGTON, D.C., OCTOBER 4, 2020 — The "Life…supplemented" campaign has contributed $6,000.00 to the award-winning national charity Nourish America (formerly Vitamin Relief USA) to benefit the Drake University Head Start program in Des Moines, Iowa. The contribution was made during the annual conference of the Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN) — which manages the "Life…supplemented" wellness campaign — in the name of six well-known members of the Wellness Cohort. These individuals are among the more than 150 million Americans (approximately two-thirds of the adult population), who already incorporate dietary supplements into their personal wellness regimen and are known collectively as the Wellness Cohort.
According to Michael A. Morton, Ph.D., executive director of Nourish America, "Our mission is to provide those at risk for malnutrition with basic nutrients and vitamins. This contribution from 'Life…supplemented' will help the children in the Drake University Head Start program establish healthy eating habits and reinforce the importance of taking care of themselves. In addition, this program gives children a head start by providing parents with children's multivitamins to help supplement their children's diets."
The Drake University Head Start program provides a range of services in education; medical, dental and mental health; nutrition (including providing multivitamins) and social service to 420 children a day from birth to age five — as well as pregnant women and their families — with the overall goal of increasing the school readiness of young children in low-income families.
The six AlphaWELLS in whose name the "Life…supplemented" contribution was made are: lifestyle expert Sissy Biggers; celebrity chef Marcus Samuelson; Men's Fitness editor Sean Hyson; professional dancer Emmanuel Pierre-Antoine; health and fitness expert and author Liz Neporent; and former NFL referee and author Jerry Markbreit.
"Both Nourish America and 'Life…supplemented' are working to help Americans improve their health status by incorporating smart choices like healthy eating, taking supplements and engaging in physical activity into their lives. We want to create a culture of wellness that focuses on prevention and staying healthy before reaching a point where we need treatment. We commend Nourish America for trying to instill healthy habits at an early age and are therefore honored to make this contribution," said Steve Mister, president and CEO, CRN.
