"Life...supplemented" and Its Facebook Community Raise Money for Vitamin Angels

Third fundraising event of the year brings in additional donations for charity

WASHINGTON, D.C., APRIL 7, 2020-"Life...supplemented," the consumer wellness campaign that encourages individuals to focus on the three pillars of health-healthy diet + supplements + exercise-raised $5,000 for international charity Vitamin Angels through its "Why You Want to Be Well" Facebook promotion, bringing its 2011 donation to the charitable organization to $20,000.

The March month-long promotion asked participants to answer a daily question about their personal health and wellness and post their response on the "Life...supplemented" Facebook page. For each response, $5 was donated to Vitamin Angels and donations were doubled on "Wellness Wednesdays." During this month, the "Life...supplemented" Facebook community nearly doubled, with "likes" reaching over 4,000 people. The promotion raised money for Vitamin Angels and people visiting the "Life...supplemented" Facebook site took away wellness tips and insights from their on-line friends.

The Facebook promotion was the third time this year that the "Life...supplemented" campaign utilized social media and social networking platforms to raise money for the charity. Previous initiatives included the "Spread the Love Tweet-a-thon," which raised $5,000 in February and a 60-minute live video stream with host Hungry Girl Lisa Lillien and a panel of wellness experts that raised $10,000 in January. The "Life...supplemented" Social Media Advisory Board-consisting of social media influencers-Carla Birnberg, Jenn Fowler, Sheryl Kraft, Andrea Metcalf, Danielle Omar, Liz Scherer, and Cascia Talbert-volunteered their time and efforts to help generate interest in all three promotions.

"Each of these three events successfully engaged people who care about their health and want to be part of a community that focuses on wellness, all while helping generate donations for a wonderful charity. We challenged our friends and followers to get involved in helping us raise money and visibility for Vitamin Angels  and they answered the call with enthusiasm," said Judy Blatman, senior vice president, communications, Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN), which oversees the "Life...supplemented" campaign through its educational affiliate, the CRN Foundation.
